Apparently some things have been rubbing people up the wrong way, and i would sort of like to apologise but i really dont think i can or will.

This blog is written from a pretty biased perspective, infact it could be said that its a little one-sided, but lets think about it, if you go on to the Man Utd website you are probably not going to see many interviews with Arsene Wenger regarding his thoughts and tactical insights, neither are you going to be able to download the latest team photo form Anfield, lets be serious.

So i guess what i am saying is if you dont like what is being written here, dont be so lazy and create your own blog in response or at least go as far as to leave a response on the page itself, you can even make it annonymous if you are afraid of leaving your name. It would humour me to read other peoples opinions of what was going on each wednesday (and i seriously mean that), and lets take this as a bit of good old fashioned craic because thats what it is, and has always meant to be. I didnt even know so many people were reading this blog, but continue to do so, if it really offends you then go check your e-mail or something, www.hotmail.com, there is even a link over on the side, but please take it with a pinch of salt and remember it is light hearted fun.

BBC 4 - 1 Renwick

A good return to form for BBC, with a 4-1 smashing of Renwick house.

BBC took the lead early in the first half with a right foot volley from Beattie. They commanded most of the play up untill this point with excellent defending and some inspirational play in the middle of the park from Mo-mo and Foye. Renwick were unlucky to see a fantastic strike from tj or rj or pj or jt or some other anachronistic moniker strike the woodwork from distance. BBC ended the half in style with some excellent interplay which resulted in a fantastic finish from Jaffa from distance, cracking the post before rustling the back of the net.

If memory serves me correct Renwick made it 2-1 after the break, qouting Andy MaC he said "i really should have got that one" after a loose shot escaped his grasp and trickled over the line. A fantastic goal from Neil was dissalowed for a very, very, very, dubious offside decision soon after and the game stayed at 2-1. Some surprise surrounded BBC's 3rd goal as Parksy got his name on the score sheet it was a phenomenal lunge come dive, knee driven effort that managed to scarper over the line to make the score 3-1. BBC seemed to have the match well under control and a swinging left footed volley from Beattie made its way to the top corner to finish the scoring for the day.

A good days work for the team, very enjoyable and satisfying. Great play once again from the defence with Nat fitting excelently into centre back alongside Keiler and Tyrell filling in for Nat on the right. Spart also had an outstanding performance down the left before being knocked out. The main difference this week was our abillity to find the back of the net, and some great midfield interplay added to the amount of chances that were created.

BBC 0 - 0 The Saints

The scoreline suggests a very boring and uninteresting match, but........ok it probably was quite boring and uninteresting.

The Saints had a few chances to win the match throughout the game especially through a squandered penalty in the first half. BBC also had an effort from Beattie cleared off the line in the second.

Picking up on a few of the Catholic Chaplancy's names Snowball and Woodsie were very good in the centre of the park and the defence as usual for BBC was excellent throughout the game. The referee seemed to be a little un-interested in the game in the second half, although in saying that the match was played very fairly and the tackling although competitive was very clean. Danny and Joshue our e-spanish contingent added a bit of latin flair to the team and both players made very impressive debuts.

A point is still a point and with key players like Neil (romancing his lady friend in Edinburgh), Caldwell (working hard in some ladies fashion shop, apparently the best in Antrim), and Pollock (Still injured despite the cries of the law society that his injury is a faux pas and he is merely faking his broken toe and ruptured tendon) out of action this was a good result for BBC, still to be beaten, although surely it has to come soon its nearly Christmas for goodness sake.

BBC 3 - Our Wee Country's supporter club 0

Seems unfair having to beat the loyal supporters of Lawries Green and White army but all is fair in love and war...or even football. The match was pretty clean and they even had a man worthy of a "he's tall, he's thin. he looks like jimmy quinn" chant up-front, legendary.

A penalty opened the scoring in the first half, it created a little controversey but the attacking player was definately clipped on his way into the box. Caldwell put away the spot-kick decisively to make it 1-0, the NISC had a few chances to draw level in the first half but the score remained the same until the break.

The second half started well for BBC and they were soon two up with a fantastic second strike from Caldwell, two goals from centre half isnt bad for a days work. Big G got the third with a spectacular overhead kick (i didnt even know the big lad could lift his leg that high) for one moment, a split second in-fact, he was like a big tall white Ronaldinho with spikey hair.

All in all a good game of football, and 3 more points in the bag. The game was pretty rough and one of the stars of the midfield Jonny Pollock was on the bad end of a horror tackle which, not only broke his toe but tore ligaments in his foot, meaning he will be on the sidelines till January.

BBC were robbed at the last with an equalizing goal two minutes from time. To be fair it was controversial at best but after having a goal disallowed 2 minutes earlier for a blatant off-side, the Law team was fortunate that the player standing directly in front of the goal keeper in an offside position was given the benefit of the doubt as a well driven shot rifled past his right ear.

Football is a funny old game and there are many lessons that can be learnt from days like today. Lawyers go to university to be trained how to argue and dispute and they wouldn’t be there if they were ineffectual at it, lets hope the courts are served well by such training and that those arguments are somewhat improved in more familiar terrain than the football pitch. Bible College students go to Bible College to learn how to live out their faith in a practical way, and it would be my hope that no matter how difficult the situation gets, as a team and as individuals we can show grace towards others at all times, even when we are being kicked about a football pitch (no particular reference to today I have played in games that have been a lot worse and indeed more violent than this), the draw is disappointing, but there is always next week. I also understand that there are two sides to every story, this one may paint the BBC football team as being nothing but a pretty picture, we aren't, that is indeed solely down to my sublime journalism skills. This blog is meant as a bit of banter, something to laugh about light heartedly, its not meant to cause offence, and if it does or has done for that i appologise. As i have stated above there are two sides to every story this just happens to be mine, usually re-iterated without tact and a hidden humour that lies somewhere underneath, flip sometimes i even wonder if i can spell. adios

BBC 3 - COI 1

Another game, another victory but thats probably about as good as it gets. The bible college played some of their most frustrating football to date against the COI on wednesday but thanks to a Johnny Pollock hat trick (should have been four) they secured another three points to make it five games out of five. Sometimes results do need to be thrashed out with un-attractive football and fortunate wins are still nevertheless still wins so this is a good result for BBC. Every team can have a bad game and hopefully this is BBC's over, the funny thing is last year this would have been considered a fantastic result for the college, but the expectations are much higher this year, the bar has been well and truly lifted and the boys know the kind of football they are capable of producing and hopefully 'that football' will return next week against the Law Society.

There are usually plenty of fireworks at this theological battle of Belfast, nothing sinister or nasty it’s just a respectable, high-quality, arduous game; incidentally this week was no different. Only one man had to be taken to hospital but after a small number of stitches had been applied to the nasty gash in his head, Andy Carroll assured me his only tears were as a result of BBC’s obliteration of Union by five goals to one.

BBC started with an unchanged defence that have been responsible for only conceding two goals in two games, Spart was introduced into the left back slot and worked well with Nat, Keiller, and Caldwell. McCormick continued his excellent run of form between the posts and will be missed next week against the C.O.I. A dodgy groin seen Bill sit the start of the match out on the bench, as the midfield four were made up of Geoff, Jess, Pollock and Smyth, with ‘The classic’ and Beattie leading the line. The match started very tight all over the pitch and every ball was closely contested. To be honest it remained that way with good passages of play from both sides until a crazy back pass allowed Big G to slip in and deliver BBC’s first. BBC regained their composure, and at what is often a time of vulnerability they held on to the lead until the half time whistle sounded.

After the break BBC were rampant and took the game to union, comprehensive in attack they scored two goals in quick succession, the first a fine finish from close range by Caldwell, and the second a marvellous strike from an acute angle by Pollock. Union were stunned by this onslaught, and the game was now almost undeniably out of their grasp. BBC were soon to inflict more punishment with a fourth finished by Neill after some great work by Big G down the flank. Union’s consolation came from the spot after what can only be described as a dubious penalty was awarded after an advantage decision went horribly wrong, but BBC did not lie down during what was Union’s best spell of the match and absorbed much pressure before scoring a fine free kick to make the score 5-1. BBC felt there were more goals for the taking and a quick turn by Beattie followed by an accurate side foot into the net was called back for a free kick to BBC, the
advantage rule had been overturned and Union’s humiliation was lessened to just the five goals
conceded. Best for union were Mullan, Grant and
Carroll before his nasty injury, but unfortunately
Union were met by a strong BBC side that
deserved to win this classic encounter. A few
players from BBC were in contention for
the man of the match award, Steve-o Caldwell,
Johnny ‘2 goal’ Pollock and others played very
well, but Big G was tireless upfront and takes
the honours with what was a fine display in
attacking prowess.

<img style="DISPLAY: block; The pre-match penalty competition came in handy as Jess found the bottom right hand corner of the net from the spot, after a blatant hand ball from an opposing player inside the box. Beattie scored the second with his left after a delightful ball from Mawhinney played him through on goal. Wholesale changes were made at half time with Neill and Beattie renewing their partnership up front, and more goals were soon to follow. A foolish backpass from a DV defender allowed Neill to make the keeper look silly for BBC's third. DV gave themselves a little hope with a soft goal that actually turned out to be a consolation, as Neill soon scored a blistering second with his left, before Mawhinney rattled the final goal of the day in with much gusto. The Bible College played some of their best football to-date against DV and the defence have to take much credit from what was an outstanding display at the back, Nathaniel was man of the match with a 'lesson showing' display in defending, and Keiler and Caldwell were like a wall.

Where is the Shep?

For the last few weeks the Lads have been wondering where this outstanding footballing talent has been hiding. The match was in severe danger of being abandoned because of the shambolic groundsmanship of Lisburn City Council, the skiff of rain on tuesday night had left the Stadio Della Dunmurry in "an apparent" unplayable state. Nevertheless a quick phone call to Lorna at City Hall was all it took to arrange the Boucher Rd, which was definately in a playable state. Our thanks and appreciation to Belfast City council for their co-operation and help.

Bible College started the match with an unfamiliar formation, Spart started in nets with the familiar four of Nat, The Keiler, Bill and Andy Mac for protection, three holding midfielders in Pollock, Dougie and Parks were anchored behind Beattie, who had the job of trying to find the ever lively Mawhinney and G leading the line. BBC opened the scoring with a goal familiar to that of Argentina against The Ivory Coast at the world cup. Multiple passes led to Mawhinney's viscious shot into the bottom left corner, 1-0. A mix up at the back led to the Baptist College's equalizer and the half time whistle sounded with the teams all square.

The second half witnessed BBC revert to a familiar 4-4-2 formation, and the rest as they say his history, Pollock moved into the back four adding stability, and Bill moved up to partner Beattie in the centre of the Park, Big G deflected the ball into the net with his head to put BBC ahead, a second from Mawhinney, and stunning freekick from Bootstrap sealed the victory, in what was a much improved second half performance. A man of the match award would have been unfair with all the guys playing very well. Keiler was outstanding as usual at the back, Mawhinney definately had his shooting boots on, and the full backs deserve a special mention, Nat and Andy Mac who had a very stable game with Andy Mac being a little less acrobatic than he has been in previous weeks, Arnold was also very strong in defence when called into action.

Big Match: BBC v The Irish Baptist College

Kick off for the big match is at 1430 on Wednesday afternoon, the boys should assemble outside Dorothy's Den(aka The Library), and travel to the stadio della dunmurry together. Caldwell was key to the BBC midfield last week and will be missed by his team mates. The defence didn’t witness much trouble for the first part of the game until a breakaway goal gave the opposition the lead, quite a shock considering big G and Beattie had seen the ball ricochet of the wood work three times in the first ten minutes. More to BBC’s surprise was when their opponents hit the back of the net for a second time with a great strike that Caldwell, not unlike the first goal, could do very little about. BBC had been rocked, and with most of the possession and goal mouth action going their way they must have been wondering if this was just not going to be their day. Although showing strength and character BBC soon hit back. Pollock and Jess were tireless in the centre of the park while Arnold and Parks responded well down the flanks and a well floated cross from Pollock was met by the ever active McCormick at the back post for BBC’s first, the second exquisite strike from Nat was soon to follow and BBC went into the break 3-2 in front. Some wholesale changes were made at half time; such was the strength in-depth of the squad with Caldwell coming into centre midfield being joined by Bill, comments after the match compared them to the Anfield pairing of Alonso and Sisoko, although why they would want to be tarred with such an ineffectual brush is beyond me. Pollock went into the number one spot, and Man of the Match Keiler was joined by Jess at the heart of the defence. Alex and Daniel slotted into the fullback spots, with Alex having a very impressive debut. Bootstrap moved out to the right flank and Milligan to the left, while Neil replaced Beattie upfront.

The second half kicked off and BBC did not take long to extend their lead with a looping cross come shot by Bootstrap from distance on the far right, although the opposition were not finished, as they pulled another goal back to make it 4-3 soon after. The new pairings throughout the centre of the team were beginning to function very well, and Big G was soon to put the ball in the back of the net only for a contentious decision from the linesman to rule his header out for being off-side. Beattie and Pollock resumed their positions outfield and BBC sealed the victory with a delightful chipped shot from Pollock, followed by a well deserved goal from Keiler which finished the rout.

It is only possible to see this team getting stronger on evidence of such a first performance, hopefully this will happen as BBC take on The Baptist College next week.

The Season Kicks off

The beautiful game has kicked off again for another new season. Some new signings, some seasoned pros, who have fused together to show some early signs that this season may even build on previous years successes. The Boucher road was unknown territory for BBC, and the team travelled from the Stadio della Dunmurry with great anticipation and an eagerness to get the ball rolling. The previous week's training had been a battle against the tumultuous forces of nature, which would have prepared any soldier for battle in the mud wrestling arena, yet even with the chaotic weather, the training ground was littered with those showing skills fit for the Premiership, La Liga or even quite possibly the Carnegie Premier League. This training session was the starting point for the team sheet on Wednesday, and priority was given to those who battled against Hurricane Dunmurry.
